Our Roadmap for Serverless Networking's Future
At rstream, we are redefining the dynamics of secure and efficient communication across networks. Our development roadmap is crafted to transparently outline our strategic direction, ensuring our community is well-informed of the upcoming features and innovations. This roadmap reflects our commitment to pushing the boundaries of what is possible, enabling devices not just as clients but as active participants in data exchange, thereby promoting a distributed access to network resources.
rstream is currently in Phase 1 ... progressing towards Phase 2!
Phase 1: Private Tunnels for Enhanced Connectivity
This initial phase focuses on establishing robust private tunnels. These tunnels, accessible solely to authenticated users via a lightweight CLI client, ensure secure and encrypted connections ideal for system administration and IoT device management. This phase will lay the groundwork for secure, scalable communications with features like token-based access control, usage monitoring, data encryption, and operational metrics.
Phase 2: Public Tunnel Accessibility
With the introduction of public tunnels, rstream extends its reach beyond dedicated clients, facilitating connections over the Internet through standard web browsers. This phase not only broadens access but also incorporates advanced functionalities such as custom domain names, load balancing, mutual TLS, and geo-IP filtering, ensuring a balance between openness and security.
Phase 3: Integrating Real-Time Communications
This third phase marks the integration of real-time communication capabilities. By supporting WebRTC and offering built-in signaling over our public tunnels, rstream paves the way for instant, secure communication channels. This phase will introduce additional features like SDKs, webhooks, and in-browser TCP connections, setting new standards for seamless communication experiences.
